‘Tipping Points’ are weekends full of workshops and debates on methods and skills for activists of progressive social movements in Austria and have been taking place since November 2019. A diverse programme on group facilitation, action planning and training, legal aid, press work, strategy development, sustainable activism, safe communication, campaign planning and skill share time is complemented by content inputs and a stimulating supporting programme. There will also be an opportunity to network with various groups and initiatives from all over Austria.

Tipping Points is an event organized by Humus – fertile soil for change with changing cooperation partners. The first three editions were organized together with System Change, not Climate Change. Additional supporters are or have always been local groups at the event locations (hence changing) or friendly collectives such as sixtopia, Infoladen Kurkuma, Spektral in Graz or the Fridays for Future local group in Salzburg.

Our History

• TP #1 findet im November 2019 in Graz statt und ist ein großartiger Erfolg.
• TP #2 ist für Ende März 2020 in Salzburg geplant, doch der erste harte Lockdown funkt dazwischen. Wir stellen kurzfristig eine kleine Online Ausgabe auf die Beine.
• Tipping Times wird geboren, eine fortlaufende Serie an Online-Workshops von April bis Anfang Juni 2020. Lockdown Zeit…
• TP #3 ist (wieder) in Salzburg geplant – und wieder kommt ein Lockdown dazwischen. Schnell kreieren wir eine Online-Version, die lockdown edition no. 2.
• Tipping Points #4 fand Ende Februar 2021 statt, geplanterweise online.
• Tipping Points #5 fand aufgrund der großen Nachfrage schon im Juni 2021 online & hybrid statt.
• Tipping Points #6 fand im November in Linz 2021 statt – der Lockdown kam diesmal genau am Tag danach!
• Tipping Points #7 fand im Juni 2022 in Innsbruck statt, endlich mal westwärts!
• Tipping Points #8 fand im Februar 2023 in Wien statt.
• Tipping Points #9 fand im Dezember 2023 in Salzburg statt.
• Tipping Points #10 kam im Juni 2024 nach Graz (zurück).
• Tipping Points #11 findet im November 2024 in Wien statt.

Why is this important to us?

Im Mittelpunkt stehen Skills und Methoden, statt Inhalte, weil Tipping Points Menschen in Sozialen Bewegungen empowern möchte und den vielen – besonders auch jungen – Aktiven, die sich für eine bessere Welt einsetzen, Handwerkszeug anbieten möchte. Themen bringt ihr selber mit! Außerdem wollen wir verschiedene Gruppen zusammenbringen und Vernetzung über einzelnen Themenbereiche hinaus ermöglichen. Ein Fokus auf ein Thema, einen struggle würde unser breites Angebot für andere Gruppen weniger interessant machen. Kommt alle! 🙂
